As per Blizzard’s announcement, Overwatch 2 will hold its first Closed Beta on April 26. In the meantime, a handful of carefully picked personalities are testing out Overwatch 2 right now before more can get their hands on the highly anticipated sequel. Although only a few have had a chance to check out Overwatch 2, dataminers have already found ways to leak sensitive information about the game, and from what we can tell, it’s shaping up to be a worthy follow-up. According to Blizztrack owner, Helba, dataminers have already found the potential file size, title screen, as well as hints of what appears to be the Battle Pass and the “clubs” system for Overwatch 2. Helba has been sharing some of the details on her Twitter account these past few days. For example, Helba claims that Overwatch 2’s file size is just 12GB, which is small compared to Overwatch’s 30GB recommended storage space and approximately 20GB file size. After this, Helba shared a screenshot of a familiar-looking opening title screen, as well as Hero Shards and Hero Progression Codes. The former is believed to be the name for the Overwatch 2 in-game currency. Meanwhile, the latter suggests that each hero will level up in Overwatch 2. Finally, the next two big leaks are a line of code for the Overwatch 2 battle pass and a string of files describing “clubs” that players can join.
— Helba (@Helba_The_AI) April 20, 2022 With only a few weeks to go before Overwatch 2 goes into Closed Beta, it’s interesting that such information is coming out. However, while all these features could come to Overwatch 2, fans will want to keep their expectations in check for the Closed Beta. Most likely, these files won’t be accessible until Overwatch 2 is fully released, whenever that is. As for official Overwatch 2 intel, Blizzard revealed that Overwatch 2 will get new game modes and maps for the Closed Beta. In addition, an interesting job listing “confirms” that Blizzard wants to improve the anti-cheat features for Overwatch 2.
