According to Cavill, the scene was shot in a Warner Bros. studio in the UK on a secret set sometime in September, only a few weeks before the movie’s premiere. The shoot was very secretive and neither Cavill nor the people involved could discuss it with anybody. At the time he got the call for the role, he was working on the third season of Netflix’s The Witcher series. As a result, he had to seek permission from the producers. In his words, “And we had to get clearance from Witcher production at the time, but it was so top secret we couldn’t tell them what. We just said “Hey, there’s this thing I’m gonna do. Can you clear me for it?” Black Adam stars Dwayne Johnson in the titular role. For several years, Johnson tried to get the former head of DC Films, Walter Hamada, to sign off on Cavill’s return to no avail. It got to a point that Johnson reportedly had to get in touch with Hamada’s higher-ups, Warner Bros. executives, to plead his case. Johnson had this to say on Instagram about Cavill’s return: Apart from Johnson and Cavill, Black Adam also stars Pierce Brosnan, Noah Centineo, Aldis Hodge, Sarah Shahi, Quintessa Swindell, and Marwan Kenzari. Since its release, Black Adam has grossed over $250 million at the box office and is the biggest opening day of Johnson’s career. In lieu with Cavill’s return to the DC Universe, Netflix has announced his departure from The Witcher for its fourth season. Cavill’s replacement is Liam Hemsworth, the younger brother of Chris Hemsworth and one of the stars of The Hunger Games franchise. Given that Cavill’s cameo in Black Adam teased a showdown between Superman and Adam, many fans have speculated that his next appearance in the DCEU will involve a huge battle between both characters. Alternatively, some fans believe the actor’s next appearance will be for a standalone movie. While he has played the character in three movies, Cavill hasn’t appeared as Man of Steel in a standalone movie since the original in 2013. In the meantime, fans can look forward to watching Cavill star as Sherlock Holmes along with Mille Bobby Brown as the titular character in Enola Holmes 2 on November 2.
