Since then, we haven’t heard much about the said partnership. At least, until now. Having finally finished their work on Control, which included releasing two post-game expansions, Remedy Entertainment is starting to talk more about their upcoming titles. In particular, the two titles will be funded and published by Epic Games.
Remedy Entertainment CEO Talks About Titles in Development
In a recent interview, Remedy Entertainment’s Chief Executive Officer, Tero Virtala, talked openly about any future titles that they are currently working on. He explained that the Finnish studio is currently working on a total of five projects split across four teams. This includes the two titles that will be backed and published by Epic Games. Furthermore, Vitala confirmed that both Epic-funded titles will take place in the Remedy Connected Universe. The Remedy Connected Universe was not formally acknowledged for the better part of the past two decades. Outside of some hints and easter eggs, most believed that Remedy’s games were set in their own respective universes. However, in August 2020, the second expansion for Control, AWE, proved that this was not the case. The said expansion connected Remedy’s most recent title, Control, with one of their older titles, 2010’s Alan Wake. Thus, it served as the first formal crossover between Remedy’s games. It is not currently unknown if the Remedy Connected Universe extends to the other games Remedy Entertainment has worked on in the past.
What’s Next for Remedy Entertainment?
Remedy Entertainment has yet to reveal which titles they are working on. At least, except for one. The lone title is something that they have worked openly on for the past few years and is Crossfire X, which is the third title in the Crossfire franchise. Remedy Entertainment was specifically brought in by Smilegate to work on the single-player campaign for the title. The narrative will reportedly take inspiration from the likes of Metal Gear Solid and Resident Evil. As for their other titles, the CEO of Remedy Entertainment had good news for fans. He confirmed that the team behind Control is already working on a new title. However, he did not mention anything else outside of its existence. But, if it’s any consolation, we do know that it will take place in the Remedy Connected Universe. It is possible that this game was the one briefly teased in one of the DLC’s released for Control. In other news, Epic Games continues its roll of studio acquisitions. After acquiring Mediatonic (Fall Guys) just a little over a week ago, they recently acquired yet another studio in Capturing Reality.
