Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves will officially be coming to the big screen on March 31, 2023. It was originally slated to premiere on March 3 but was pushed back. The reason for the delay has not been revealed by the studio. The move to delay the movie may have had something to do with Creed III premiering in the same week. The third installment of Michael B. Jordan’s boxing series is expected to do as well as the previous two movies. The movie opens in theaters after Shazam! Fury of the Gods and John Wick: Chapter 4. But, with its current release date, the film is not going to have any significant competition, which bodes well for its box office performance. Many are expecting the movie to do well at the box office with its cast and budget. Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves is based on the popular tabletop RPG game by Hasbro. Wizards of the Coast will be involved in the production of the movie. The film will be set in the Forgotten Realms which was designed by Ed Greenwood. The new movie will not be related to the previous trilogy of films as it’s expected to be a reboot of the Dungeons & Dragons universe. The movie has an impressive cast headlined by Chris Pine as Edgin the Bard and Michelle Rodriguez as Holga the Barbarian while Regé-Jean Page portrays Xenk the Paladin. On top of the trio, the ensemble cast includes Justice Smith, Sophia Lillis, and Hugh Grant. According to reports, the story will revolve around a team of thieves trying to retrieve an ancient relic to prevent the apocalypse that the group was responsible for triggering in the first place. The trailer showcased dragons, owlbears, and mimics (treasure chests with teeth) being part of the movie. The movie was co-written and directed by Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley. The story was created by Chris McKay and Michael Gilio and is based on the Hasbro tabletop game. There will be a prequel D&D campaign released before the premiere of the movie. The two upcoming novels The Druid’s Call by E.K. Johnston and The Road to Neverwinter by Jaleigh Johnson will also serve as prequels to the film as well as a graphic novel, Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves - The Feast of the Moon, that will focus on the characters of the movie.
