The game’s official Twitter account has just broken the news, citing the need to spend more time preparing it for release on effectively nine different platforms (Xbox One/X, Xbox Series X/S, PS4/Pro, PS5, PC and Stadia). Being required to work from home, due to COVID-19, has apparently compounded the issues. The developers also mention that just because the game went gold doesn’t mean they can stop working on it, or that it is necessarily complete and ready for release. Instead, they note that while all the content is there, improvements are always able to be made. This interpretation of what “going gold” means exactly could irk some. Traditionally, it means that the game is good to go and CDs can be pressed. Did CD Projekt Red make the gold announcement too early, choosing to rely on day 0 patches to make the game playable?
